Alice Nelanger McGuigan Endowed Scholarship



Provide financial support to Kean University students who reside in New Jersey, work while enrolled at Kean University, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and earning their degree in teaching at the College of Education. The income from this endowment will be used to assist students who demonstrate need through the Pay It Forward Fund. The Pay it Forward Fund serves those students who are currently enrolled in a matriculating program at Kean University, but lack the financial resources to continue their education. The Pay it Forward Fund would work collaboratively " to close attainment gaps for traditionally underrepresented populations." In return, students who benefit from the Pay it Forward would be asked to simply to just that - pay it forward. upon graduation, Pay it Forward scholarship recipients must agree to join the Alumni Leadership Initiative, which works with the Office of Alumni Relations to identify professional development options and resources to support the University's educational and philanthropic endeavors.

Granted to students who have made a significant contribution to social change through community service. Strong preference is given to 'Be the Change' student club members. Financial need is also preferred and a supplementary essay of not more than 250 words highlighting the student’s community service and social change involvement is required.

Consideration for the scholarship will be given to all scholarship applicants. Preference will be given to a student(s) involved with the Kean student organization 'Be the Change' and/or a person with financial need who has demonstrated the ability to overcome social and financial obstacles and will truly benefit from a scholarship. In the event the all candidates have similar profiles, the candidate with the greatest involvement with 'Be the change' student organization or direct involvement with social and financial obstacles in their personal life or assisting others with be selected.

Given Annually, candidates must be a junior or senior majoring in one of the sciences. The student must have a 3.4 GPA or higher and has been an enrolled Kean University student for a least two semesters.





Global Education Fund

Consideration for this scholarship will be given to full-time undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and/or come from a disadvantaged background. Scholarship applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be enrolled in Kean University’s Semester Abroad Program not at Wenzhou, China. The award may be used for tuition and travel expenses for students pursuing any degree. That the Board of Trustees directs the administration to develop the procedures needed to ensure that a maximum of 200 Kean University students annually, who wish to study abroad for a semester or an academic year and are eligible to do so, can apply for and receive up to $2,000 in travel ($1,500) and cultural ($500) funds per semester to support their efforts;





Global MBA Endowed Scholarship



Candidates are graduate students matriculated in Global MBA program with a minimum 3.5 GPA.   This award will cover up to 3 credits of in-state graduate tuition each semester.

Available for music major or minor, who plays an instrument that would typically be part of a symphony orchestra or classical ensemble. I would ask that priority be given to individuals with an interest in either the violin or piano. Additionally, I request that priority be given to students from Union or Essex Counties of New Jersey. Finally, I ask that financial need also be considered when making the final determination.

Consideration for this tuition remission award will be given to all Kean University students who enroll in a semester or more of study at Wenzhou University or Wenzhou Kean University (when it opens) and who have expertise or experience of unique value to Chinese students enrolled in Wenzhou Kean University such as expertise in tutoring English or familiarity with Chinese business operations and opportunities in the United States. Applicants must write an essay describing their expertise, experience, and/or special knowledge and explaining the value of 
sharing any or all of these attributes with the Chinese students of Wenzhou Kean University. 

In the event that candidates are e1-1ually qualified and equally valuable to the current needs of the Chinese students of Wenzhou Kean University, the candidate with the greatest financial need will be selected as the recipient of the tuition remission award.
