Consideration for the scholarship will be given to all scholarship applicants. Preference will be given to a student(s) involved with the Kean student organization 'Be the Change' and/or a person with financial need who has demonstrated the ability to overcome social and financial obstacles and will truly benefit from a scholarship. Candidates are graduate students in the occupational therapy program entering their final or Fieldwork II semester. The successful candidate will demonstrate client centered values and demonstrate specialization in mental health or the psycho-social aspect of the profession.
$1,000 each academic year. Application must be reviewed by OT Department since they will have personal knowledge of the candidates. All graduate scholarship applicants of the occupational therapy (OT) Program, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 of a possible 4.0, and have demonstrated exemplary character, client-centered values, and dedication to a specialization in the mental or Psycho-Social aspect of the OT program and profession. This scholarship will be awarded during either the final semester or fieldwork II semester to a student whose character and approach to the profession of occupational therapy most closely resembles that demonstrated by Kathy Hering-Brady during her practice. These faculty members may nominate up to three candidates for the award. Final selection will be made consultation with designated Family members (to be designated by Donald Brady). In the event that no candidates are recommended, the scholarship will not be awarded that year.
